Embarking on our first camping trip at Roundoak Farm gave me a lot to think about. We missed quite a few things to make it more comfortable.
Our first-time setup took nine minutes. We're confident we can cut that down to under five minutes with more practice.
I had a hard time adjusting the ladder to the correct height:
The king-size mattress is impressive, and being off the ground feels amazing, though I can't exactly say why. The night went well, but Aline was cold, so we need more blankets.
Regular bedding gets damp and moist. We need sleeping bags and camping pillows.
We underestimated our water needs. We went through nearly 10L in a single day. A large water container in the car is a must.
The small propane stove quickly lost its appeal once the novelty wore off. Next time, to avoid the hassle of setting up the stove each time we want tea or coffee, I'll boil water in the morning and store it in a thermos.
A cold lemonade would have been perfect while watching cows graze, so a cooler is also on the list.
I've got my "don't know what I'm doing, and it's early" face on:
Skipping a table and chairs was a mistake. They're on the must-have list now. We also need mosquito repellent, even in September.
Our phones served as makeshift lighting, but we’ll invest in soft lighting for a better atmosphere.
